PROBLEM:

One of the first challenges in this condo’s remodel was custom lighting. The existing light source was nowhere near the locations where illumination was needed. And the ceiling did not permit moving the electrical source, due to the cement floor of the unit above. One existing electrical box in the ceiling, in the wrong place, would have to power lights throughout the space.

SOLUTION:

To make the space work really well, I chose a transformer and track lighting to solve the problem. I curved the track through the space, and ended up with appropriate light above two sitting areas — a reading space in front of the fireplace on one side, and a dining table in the corner windows on the other.
